Kraken wins 2026 Fintech Company of the Year award in Ireland

Kraken has won the Fintech Company of the Year award in the established-company category at Ireland's 2026 National Fintech Awards. Kraken announced the result on October 26 after the awards ceremony held in Dublin on October 15.

The National Fintech Awards' official winners page confirms the result. Its judges pointed to Kraken's decision to build a substantial operation in Ireland, its Central Bank of Ireland licensing and its role in developing the country's digital asset sector.

Ireland's role in Kraken's European operations

Kraken says Ireland is central to how it serves customers across the European Economic Area. Its regulated Irish entities provide crypto brokerage and MiCA custody services, while its European trading platform operates under MiCA authorization. Payward also holds an electronic money institution license from the Central Bank of Ireland.

Those details matter more than the award itself. They identify the regulatory framework and legal entities supporting parts of Kraken's European business. They do not mean that every Kraken product has the same protections or is available in every EEA country.

Kraken linked the award to several recent European developments, including Unified Wallet access for eligible EEA clients and Payward's agreement to acquire EU-licensed Saldo Bank. The company has also expanded access to US-listed stocks for European customers.

What the award means for Kraken users

The award is recognition from an Irish fintech industry panel. It is not a regulatory approval, an investment guarantee or an assessment of individual Kraken products. Users should still check which Kraken entity provides a service, whether the product is available where they live and which protections apply.

For customers comparing exchanges, the useful takeaway is Kraken's regulated presence in Ireland and its continuing investment in European infrastructure. The trophy is supporting evidence, but licenses, product terms, custody arrangements and geographic restrictions remain the details worth checking.
