Kraken Card is not trying to be another trading screen. It is closer to a spending pocket attached to your Kraken account: you move funds into an everyday balance, decide what can be spent, and use a virtual Mastercard debit card where Mastercard is accepted. The card is ordered in the Kraken app and managed through Krak, using the same login. Kraken Card official page
The part most people notice first is cashback. Kraken advertises up to 2% back on every eligible spend, paid in BTC or GBP where supported. The tier is based on the 30-day rolling average balance across Kraken, Kraken Pro and Krak. Kraken lists Light at £200 for 0.5%, Pro at £1,000 for 1%, Elite at £10,000 for 1.5%, and Max at £50,000 for 2%. New cardholders start at Max tier for the first 30 days.
The card also makes a very crypto-specific problem easier: what exactly gets spent at checkout. Kraken says users can set a spending order across balances and lock assets they do not want touched. If you hold BTC long term, for example, you can keep it out of the checkout queue and spend cash or another asset first.
The “no fees” wording needs a careful read. Kraken says there are no transaction fees, FX fees, ATM withdrawal fees or monthly fees on card spend. But its footnotes also say a variable spread applies when spending across assets, and third-party ATM fees may apply. Spending crypto can also be a taxable event because the card converts assets to fiat at the point of purchase.
So the honest way to look at Kraken Card is this: it may be useful if you already keep funds on Kraken and want a cleaner bridge between crypto balances and everyday payments. It is not a reason by itself to buy crypto, and it is not available everywhere. Before applying, check eligibility, cashback terms and local disclosures inside Kraken or Krak.
