Kraken and Mesh make crypto deposits less error-prone

The problem with wallet addresses

Moving crypto between exchanges still asks users to do something most people dislike: copy a long wallet address, choose the right network, paste it somewhere else, and hope every detail is right.

Kraken's new Mesh integration is meant to remove part of that risk. Instead of copying an address, users can choose "Another exchange" from the Kraken deposit screen, sign in to the supported exchange through a secure Mesh window, choose the amount, and confirm the transfer.

What Kraken added

The feature is available now on the Kraken website. At launch, Coinbase is supported, with more exchanges planned. Kraken announcement

The transfer still moves on-chain to the user's Kraken deposit address. The difference is that the user does not need to handle the address manually. Kraken says it does not charge a fee for this feature, though the sending exchange may still charge withdrawal, network, or conversion fees.

Mesh's SmartFunding can also help when the user does not hold enough of one token on the sending exchange. For example, if the user wants to deposit more USDC than they currently hold there, Mesh can convert part of the user's other balances on that exchange to cover the remaining amount. Fees from that exchange may apply.

Why it matters

This is not a flashy product launch, but it solves a real usability problem. Deposit mistakes can be expensive in crypto because blockchain transfers are usually final. Reducing address handling should make exchange-to-exchange transfers less intimidating for newer users and less tedious for experienced ones.

The useful detail is the fallback. If the sending exchange is not supported yet, Kraken still shows the standard deposit address and QR code options. The new flow does not replace the old one. It adds a safer path where Mesh support exists.

What to check before using it

Users should still confirm the asset, network, sending exchange, fees, and local availability before starting a transfer. If a Mesh window is closed or canceled, Kraken says no transfer begins.

For now, this looks like a practical quality-of-life update rather than a trading feature. It fits Kraken's broader product direction: fewer manual steps, more account utility, and a smoother route for assets already sitting on other platforms.
